Yesterday, I was out at the Fremont Fair, and I saw Tom aka The Reverend presenting his art car for public display for the first time.
The art cars are one block west from where they were last year, on 35th. The fair was nice, if a little smaller than last year -- less streets with booths, and the booths weren't packed as tightly as previous years; also less musical stages.
I watched the parade and wandered around with
ozitonaranjo for a while, but lost her in the crowd when I stopped to purchase some bags. Eventually, I ran into Tom. There's another great art car (from houston, i think), which has several dozen fish and lobsters articulated with servos that do musical numbers.
Got into a fender-bender of sorts today with a ford f-150 while i was trying to get down a narrow street. the driver of the ford put his bumper against mine and pushed when i wasn't getting out of his way fast enough. annoying, but i managed to wipe the plastic from his bumper off my metal bumper. stupid fucking mullet trash. i clipped a parked car (toyota pickup) when i was trying to get out of his way, though.
looks like the damage to the parked car will be just about my deductible -- one good scrape -- and my truck wasn't damaged at all, so i'm considering not reporting it to insurance and just paying the owner directly. the mulletteer took off, of course, and i didn't get his license plate.
A police officer i chatted with later said that this sort of thing isn't uncommon at events that draw people in from the 'surrounding suburbs.'
