today was that sort of emotionally grueling hell that french filmmakers specialized in in the early 80s. intense, fraught conversations sitting in front of coffee restaurants with women smoking black cigarettes and hesitant guesses made about uncertain futures. not recommended, but at least it was done in the sun. i feel mighty tan. also, i hacked around a lot, got stuff accomplished.

so hot in my damn apartment that i've been wearing my utilikilt all day.

yesterday, i went to see Pirates of the Caribbean with [livejournal.com profile] rimrunner. Obligatory one sentence review:
to cross again is not to cross, also squid.

It was a fun, entertaining movie. Lots of great visual effects, not a lot of plot to chew through. Lots of scenery to chew through, though. I continue to want one of those colonial-style coats, but to be unmotivated to do anything about ordering one.

Before that, we went to Claim Jumper. This restaurant is the sort of middle-american hell that I try to avoid. A lot more food on the table that I customarily order these days, I estimate that I had half the entree and ate well today on the remainder. Sort of bizarre, and oddly not as well spiced as I'd expect. I broke out in a cold, clammy sweat after I ate there, and felt bizarrely ill afterwards. All in all, I wish they'd just tossed a chicken breast on the appetizer salad and left well enough alone with the entrees. Strange to think that people go there all the time. It wasn't horribly bad, and I feel like I should be doing more eating in places like that. Not for any rational health purpose, but more as a socialization exercise.

tomorrow, I plan to go to a Semantic Grail Group meeting, and then possibly to [livejournal.com profile] exmanhater's semi-farewell soiree. Although, I have some previous social obligations which may interfere with the latter of these.

(i have formatted this document according to [livejournal.com profile] kraquehaus's advice about bolding text (which I cannot find) modified slightly to conform to 17th C. stylings as I recall them. At any rate, I thought it might make my blog writing easier to consume. I also continue to debate whether I should use þ as it was used in early english typography. give me 5 groats for þe Kweene and I will give you þhe frelling Turkey Leg, you gibbering RenFaire AssHatte, but þat would probably make þe things I write less legible þan þey already are.)
