the iceman cometh
Nov. 23rd, 2007 09:23 amIf you're staying in a house by yourself and there's crashing sounds in the middle of the night, it can get pretty scary. Of course, it's probably only the ice machine. I have never had an ice machine, so I've always been surprised when they go off and it's quiet. Of course, I have a cat that makes plenty of noise on its own, but it's usually a subtler, quieter kind of noise or it's such a torrential 'knock all the shit off the walls' sort of falling that you have to go investigate anyway.
Currently, things are kind of quiet. I got a surprise hearback from someone about something I sent them last night, and I'm currently like OMG WHEE about it -- like, literally four months longer than I expected it to have been. Thanksgiving with family is about per usual.
I've been thinking a lot recently about the friends that I'm especially grateful for, and why I'm glad to have them in my life, and the answer varies a lot from friend to friend, but I really admire folks who have a sense of play and a creative spirit, as well as those who can identify a good idea and stick to it through adversity.
I'm currently sitting in a friend's work room using guest computer, and it's pretty aweseome to be surrounded by their panoply of projects hanging off of everything. I think it's inspired me to make the same sort of display of stuff when I get back home.
