Wow. It's a Komodo Dragon, and that's not even a hat, it's a pork chop on a piece of ribbon! That's extremely dangerous as Komodo Dragons are really deadly. If it bit the girl in the head she probably would have died.

Battle Royale doesn't seem so implausible any more.
