The only book that ever gave me nightmares that I can remember was galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut. It's one of the memories from childhood that's sort of persevered over the years, lurking like a giant brainless tortoise humanoid, in my memory.

yeah, that was what made me think of it on this particular day.

I had said everything I could think of other than expressing surprise that an 84 chain smoker and alcoholic would die.

I regret his death, of course, but i'm not surprised by it.
