Kaki King @ the Showbox

Last night I went to the Kaki King show at the showbox, and it was pretty epic. She's a guitar virtuoso who used to be a NYC Subway Busker, and is just covered in raw talent. She plays a bunch of songs using tap-style playing, which is something that I'm not familiar with, but sounds pretty awesome -- she's the first woman named a Guitar God by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Here's an example:
It was a great night. Met up with
rimrunner,
just_aims,
nihil_duce, and
m_cobweb beforehand for dinner at the Pike Place brewery. The brewery has recently started having some food that isn't cooked in beer. Places where they have beer in almost everything is a particular madness in greater brewpubbia, aka the pacific northwest.
She has a new album out, I bought it today:

Dreaming of Revenge, Kaki King
It was a really awesome show, I was in that weird sort of sleepless state one gets from insomnia. It's that fight club moment of not being really awake, but not being asleep either. Got to work on that, although I successfully slept in until 8am today.

Also check out people playing a Chapman Stick. This instrument was designed to be played with the tapping style.
