Here's the latest SNL thing. It's well worth watching all the way through. Yes, that is Queen Latifah. It's pretty hilarious.

My current curiosity is where John McCain is going with the attack ads against Obama, because he really has no where to go but down with this (he being a member of the Keating 5, and Palin being an Alaska Independence Party sympathizer (and her husband is a member.))

I don't think that anyone's associations are cleaned when viewed in this regard, but if you look at McCain's past of shilling for lobbyists and cronyism, it's difficult to imagine that this is going to turn out well for him. It's also difficult to imagine that he thinks it will turn out well for him, but his advisors are still stuck in Rovian sound bite mode where criticism doesn't matter.

UPDATE: Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] taoskye for giving a link to this skit that hadn't been taken down

Tomorrow, the McCain campaign is going to file an official protest to the Federal Election Commission saying that the Obama campaign isn't checking its donations in line with the law, and demanding a full audit of donations.

This was on a news conference earlier this afternoon, details (including the audio campaign from the Repbulicans) here: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/05/rnc-to-seek-audit-of-all-contributions-to-obama-campaign/

I think that the McCain campaign and the Republican 527s are hoping for a quick knock-out similar to the Swift Boats for Truth, and are going to try a large number of smears over the next few days. Because the groups aren't coordinated, probably a lot are going to launch tomorrow in advance of the Tuesday debate and then again on thursday or next monday.
