Oh, man. I remember that poem. And "Variation on a Theme by William Carlos Williams", the homage poem by someone else that replaces plums in the icebox with tamales on the stove.

I think those two poems (in sophomore year high school English class) were what convinced me poetry was a dead loss for a good decade or so.
