A spellchecker i was using this morning suggested 'homepage' as the correct spelling for 'hemorrhage.'

It's suprisingly accurate, but...


the edit distance between homepage and hemorrage is kinda low.

hemorrhage
hemorrage (drop)
hemorage (drop)
homerage (swap)
homepage (change letter)

This is the only case in which I can think of that these words would be confused. Although, you may get bonus points for the 'o' being next to the missing 'p' or something.

Years ago the spellcheck in PageMaker used to suggest that the correct spelling of the name "Wallingford" was "lamelliform." I still can't hear or read Wallingford without thinking of the bizarre suggested replacement.
