rwxso, the ISP ("what isp... a major one") that the place I'm consulting for gets internet service from decided to change a bunch of things on the first of the year, with 90 days until the old configuuration stops working. of course, 90 days from 1/1 means that it went bad last night at 12:01 am.
Which meant that this afternoon, i got a call from them wonderinf what had gone wrong with the network. After we'd exchanged the neccesary handshakes to establish that this wasn't an april fool's joke, I went over and got their network going again with the new config.
but, really, 90 days from 1/1 isn't such a great idea for drastic service changes.
