compline and everything after
Apr. 24th, 2006 04:23 pmLast night, i went to the Compline Choir at St. Mark's. It was nice and meditative, and I really enjoyed it. I noticed that a couple of people around the periphery are actually sitting seizai or in lotus during the service, which is nice.
After the service, it was time for the Organ recital, which is apparently slang for 'the backup organist blaring away at difficult pieces with all the stops out.' It was pretty awesome, he played a Bach piece I can never remember the name of because I associate it with Satan's Hollow (and it is Bach, although apparent reports of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries as being the theme song of that game abound. weird. It's probably Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.) The game association and hearing it at St. Mark's made it pretty hard to keep from laughing for a while. It's funny, because I think I played that game like 10 times in the early-mid 80s and I still have that as the association for Bach to this day.
