I remember seeing the one where he reaches for the bowl and it vanishes in the paper. Even then, at not quite 17 years old, i recall thinking that it seemed a terribly coarse attempt at pathos. It's amazing how quickly Davis returned to his regularly scheduled inanity.

ziptie asked me to pop by and point you at this discussion about the inner truth of Garfield: if you read only Jon's side of the "conversation", Garfield becomes a strip about a very, very lonely man who spends his evenings talking to his cat.
